The IKEA Foundation’s IWitness programme gives small groups of IKEA co-workers a life-changing chance to visit programmes connected to IKEA’s Good Cause campaigns, so they can explore how our partnerships help children and families around the world. This blog is a place for them to share their photos, videos and thoughts while they’re on their trips, so all co-workers and customers can see how we and our partners work together to help children create better opportunities for themselves and their families.
In 2016 we launched a new Good Cause campaign, Let’s Play for Change, promoting children’s rights to play and develop. Let’s Play for Change follows in the footsteps of two other very successful campaigns: Soft Toys for Education, which enabled us to donate €88 million to Save the Children and UNICEF over 13 years, and Brighter Lives for Refugees, which resulted in us donating €30.8 million to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
Every year, a handful of IKEA co-workers from stores around the world get the opportunity to visit projects run by the IKEA Foundation’s partners. While they’re on their trips, they share their experiences on this blog so that all co-workers, customers, friends and family can see how, together with our partners, we are helping children in some of the world’s poorest communities.
IWitness trips are organised in partnership between the IKEA Foundation, IKEA stores and seven of the Foundation’s partners: UNICEF, Save the Children, UNHCR, Handicap International, Room to Read, Special Olympics and War Child.
The co-workers visit projects in Africa, Asia and Europe that are funded through three IKEA Good Cause campaigns: Soft Toys for Education, Brighter Lives for Refugees and Let’s Play for Change.
IKEA co-workers work hard to promote the campaigns in their stores so we can donate more money to fund innovative, life-changing projects for children. IWitness trips give them the chance to see first-hand what a difference our support makes to children’s lives.
